Had a moment of pure joy last week.Went in for my checkup and I was cool for the most part..BUT…when that little nurse tols me I had LOST 5 LBS. I almost started to dance in the doctors office. After I calmed down I realized this is the beginning.Don’t get me wrong I know I’m blessed,God is Good.I will continue to fight my battle with a positive frame of mind…BUT a brother is thinking about a 1/4 pounder right now…you know what…just give me a #2,and I’m cool.

I was surfing the net yesterday(showing my age right there),when I came up on a debate about Tyler Perry.Someone said his movies are bad for african americans because of the images they project.I was very surprised at how deep the emotions were.Several folks had a problem with him being in drag.Wow.When I think about how much Sonia loves Tyler Perry, how much her girls love him,and how much 95-7rnb listeners love him, well a brother was amazed.

I know nobody asked me but since this is my blog, and I’ve got a second let me say,I’m cool with T.P.His movies are not for errbody what movie is?I enjoy the comedy, the message, the niche that they fill, and I love the brother for giving black actors work.CAUSE WE ALL GOTTA WORK.You know a movie is just someone’s vision. When you watch one you pretty much take a ride with them.So take it for what it’s worth.BUT.What do you think?I would love to know.Hit me up.

flat tires 004It was an absolutely glorious night, as I watched Hall of Famer Bruce Smith honored for his work with Operation Smile.  I learned so much more about this special man, met his beautiful wife and handsome son, who looks just like him and got his second sac this past week.  The atmosphere was electric, the food was great, the people were awsome.  And to top it all off, Eddie Levert performed at the end.  WOW!!!  How blessed I felt.   Thanks Melanie Bariso Agustin.   These are some of the pictures.  Stay tuned for the video.  :) honoring-hall-of-famer-bruce-smith-for-operation-smile-007honoring-hall-of-famer-bruce-smith-for-operation-smile-011honoring-hall-of-famer-bruce-smith-for-operation-smile-005Honoring Hall of Famer Bruce Smith for Operation Smile 021Honoring Hall of Famer Bruce Smith for Operation Smile 023Honoring Hall of Famer Bruce Smith for Operation Smile 027Mr. Mghee Founder of Operation SmileHonoring Hall of Famer Bruce Smith for Operation Smile 003honoring-hall-of-famer-bruce-smith-for-operation-smile-022honoring-hall-of-famer-bruce-smith-for-operation-smile-002honoring-hall-of-famer-bruce-smith-for-operation-smile-001Honoring Hall of Famer Bruce Smith for Operation Smile 020operation smile recipientHonoring Hall of Famer Bruce Smith for Operation Smile 024

Today starts the first mid-week health tip:

Yogurt — that rich and creamy stuff that’s full of calcium and “healthy” bacteria — may actually help you shed pounds. In a study, when obese people followed a reduced-calorie diet that includes three 6-ounce servings of calcium-rich yogurt a day, they lost a whopping 61 percent more fat overall — and 81 percent more fat around their waists — compared with those who didn’t eat yogurt. Why? Turns out the calcium in yogurt may hinder fat storage and boost fat loss. And calcium-rich dairy products like yogurt may contain additional fat-burning compounds as well.

That’s what they say but does it work?   I’ll let you know.

theressa_brown_sm My hips are so sore!!! No it’s not what you may be thinking. I wish!!! You know it has been, well it’s been a looooong time!!! Okay that’s neither here nor there. Well anyway I am taking Pole Dancing Classes at the Rio Dance Studio, courtesy of my good friend Tanya. She not only signed me up but a couple of our girlfriends and let me tell you it is work. No I have not gotten on a pole and don’t plan on getting on one, because I know that I will break my neck, back and everything else. Well we have the class for 5 weeks on Monday nights. So last night we did a lot of work on the floor. We had to do all this gyrating with our hands back like you are ready to do a back flip. We had to hold our head back and keep gyrating. That did not feel sexy to me. My head was spinning and my hips were killing me.

But I kept going like I knew what I was doing. The instructor said I looked like I was pain. I was like hell yeah I’m in pain. Then we had to get in the position like you are giving birth, now who da you know what wants to get in that position. That position only reminds me of pain!!! Finally we get off the floor and start our sexy walks and riding the pony moves. Now mind you when you are doing the sexy walk you have to touch yourself. I only do that alone not around a whole lot of women!!! I felt like I was violating myself!!! After the class is over I’m exhausted. She tells us next week, we will use a chair to dance around. All I do with chairs is sit in them, now I have to do all these moves around a chair with no one in it. Just put a male mannequin in it to give me some incentive.
For real, I am having fun. We have women of all ages and sizes in our class and we all feel very sexy just the way that we are. So I’m gonna soak my hips tonight and get ready for next week!!!

Man I had a great weekend. Why?Cause it was stress free, relaxing…and the raiders won. With all the drama in my life the past few weeks it was nice to get lost in something as meaningless as a football game, and I loved it.You see Oakland seldom wins,so when they do it’s a big deal In addition to my team winning.Dallas and New England lost,so I’m feeling pretty good right now.

I met this very nice retired couple this morning. They were so cool(he did radio back in the day). They talked about the trips they’ve taken, their kids, the low paying jobs, you know…the stuff folks talk about. But the more they talked the more I thought about the blessings, you know what I mean? Blessings  that may not even seem  like blessingsl at the time.
